While HK and I were in Vancouver this summer, we took the ferry over to Vancouver Island, then drove our car to the far west of the island, to Tofino. We had a 3-day weekend, since HK’s company had given it’s employees an extra day for the 4th of July holiday.
Of course, Canadians don’t celebrate the American Independence Day, but we had just celebrated Canada Day in Vancouver on July 1st, so we were getting 2 holidays in one week. How lucky was that ?? It got better. As we relaxed on our lounge chairs, watchingthe fishing boats return with their catch and marveling at the beauty that surrounded us, we spotted this majestic Bald Eagle perched in a tree above. Lucky me, I happened to have my little pink kodak mini cam handy, because I caught this on film.
We found it amusing, if not a tad ironic, that we would have to travel to Canada to get our first-ever up close-up of the national symbol of the USA. We continued to watch a couple of very active Bald Eagles scavenging for the remains of the fishermen’s discards, until the sun set below the horizon. It was a very memorable 4th of July in Canada.
Beautiful pictures…I’d love to go there sometime.
Awesome Pictures!! The sunset is breath taking.
