Have you heard of Megabus?
Megabus is a low-cost express bus system that serves more than 70 cities in the USA, Canada and the UK. Of course, it can’t take you from Atlanta to London, but it got Mom home from Knoxville, Tennessee last week in not much longer than it would take to drive. (Since it has nice, clean toilets, Mommy didn’t have to make any pit-stops!)
Mommy and Diddy have both taken it on separate trips, and have nothing but good things to say about it! Mommy sat up top in her super-clean and comfy double-decker bus in nice air-conditioning, and since it had wifi, she could surf the web, whatever that means.
And the price! Wowee! You can’t beat it with a stick! Mommy paid $8.00 for a 225-mile trip! She actually could have gotten the ticket for $1.00, but Grandiddy couldn’t make up his mind what dates she should come. See, the earlier you book, the cheaper the ticket. Early planners can go for as little as a buck! In fact, back last Fall, Diddy went fron Atlanta to Jacksonville, FL. round-trip for $6.00! And that is 320 miles each way!
So, you might be asking, why would I take a bus when I could drive? Well, here’s the thing. Say you are meeting someone and don’t need 2 cars. Or say you don’t want to drive that distance by yourself? Or gas costs $4.00 (or more) a gallon? Or maybe you just like road trips? When Mommy and Diddy travel outside the USA, they never have a car, and do just fine on busses and trains.
The only reason I see not to take Megabus is because they don’t allow us 4-legged family members aboard. And yes, according to Mommy, there are times when the 3 Pups are just not a part of the plan. Besides, we prefer the Pop-Up!
Mommy looked it up. They do stop here! But unfortunately don’t go where she would want to visit. Hope they increase their routes!
hope so. fingers x-ed!
I thought we where the only country to have a megabus here in the UK. Excuse my ignorance lol. Cheaper that a dog treat at times .:-)
Canada, too! We’re so advanced! : )
I don’t think i’ve seen a megabus in the UK, they must only be in the major cities.
With the price of petrol nowadays you can’t beat them prices, just a shame you can’t take dogs onboard.
agreed! No dogs allowed on hardly ANY public transpo here in the US and Canada!
I have not heard of the Megabus. We just got a thing Called Bolt Bus though that says it will take you 300 miles from Seattle to Portland for $1. I wonder if doggies are allowed 🙂
