Chance

Chance here. Guess what day today is? It is my 4-Year Anniversary of being rescued by Mommy and Diddy!

One Dark and Dreary day in April, a nice lady named Pat Thomas over at Photophetish saw me and my homey on the side of the road near Atlanta. She took our picture (doesn’t it look like we were posing for her?) and posted it to Facebook begging for someone to rescue us. Soon after that, we were picked up by Animal Control and taken to jail. Well, my Homey broke out when someone rescued her, but not me. I just cowered in the corner.

Then, a group called Animal Action Rescue saw the hurt in my eyes and the pain on my body, and took a chance and pulled me out of jail! After a vet took away my manly parts and gave me shots and stuff, I went and got all the matts cut off. Well, basically I got shaved, only to reveal pink, irritated skin and burn marks on my hip. I was so embarrassed, but I actually felt LOTS better!

Enter Mommy. She agreed to temporarily foster me until she could find me a “furever home”. When she brought me home, the man that later became my Diddy called me “Piglet” and said I was funny-looking. Mommy-who is really the BOSS of the house-named me Chance-because I got a second chance at life. My new Sissy and Brudder, Roxie and Kismet, were nice to me and made me not so scared, and told me just how to play my cards right if I wanted to stay.

Mommy took me to something called “Pet Adoption Day” at PetSmart and pretended to try to find me a furever home. I didn’t like THAT one bit! I KNEW my FUREVER home was with Mommy and Diddy–they just didn’t know it yet. Every time somebody asked about me, she told them I was a naughty dog and they would walk away to look at other dogs. Within a month, Mommy had officially adopted me!!!

Bichon all the way, Baby!

It wasn’t until I filled-out and my hair had grown in that they realized that I was a (probably) pure Bichon Frise. (Duh! I could have TOLD them that!!)

And that, my friends, is the true story of my rescue. Happy Anniversary to ME!!!!!!!!!!!
