“New York! Just like I pictured it. Skyscrapers. Everything!”
I don’t know why I say that every time I go to New York. It just seems natural. I remember it from Stevie Wonder’s “Innervisions” album, the song, “Living For the City”.
The weather was perfect for clear views of the city.
Ellis Island
After some photo time, we continued up the New York harbor to Port Washington on Long Island Sound. Mooring balls there are free for the first two nights, then $20.00 a night thereafter. (A steal for this area!) There is a water taxi, laundromat, grocery store and restaurants in close proximity. We like to explore towns on foot and get a good feel for the neighborhoods and parks.Port Washington is one of those towns where I think I could live. We spent four nights here, exploring and taking the train to Penn Station to enjoy a day in Manhattan.
Have you walked on the High Line, yet? If not, I highly recommend it. It was the highlight of our city trip!
We headed home before the weather turned bad, and now we’re prepping the boat for her BIG trip south in early November.
Once again, thank you for the wonderful pictures! We love sharing your adventures. I’ve never been to New York, so I love the pictures! But sailboats at dusk (or dawn) leave me speechless. One of my wallpapers on the computer is a sailboat at dusk on one of the local lakes.
Thanks! The sunsets up there were breathtaking! Pictures don’t do them justice.
Love the Chelsea Market and the High Line! Now that Claire’s living there, I’m certain to be visiting regularly.
We plan to station Kismet somewhere on Long Island Sound next summer, so I reckon that will a trip we’ll have to plan for- Maybe a DAAM weekend aboard???
