Long ago, in a faraway land
I lived in this cottage, set snug in the sand.
St. Simon’s island was “home” for a spell
While I dug at Fort Frederica, excavating a well.
An archaeological dig was my job at that time
Searching remnants of homes built of oysters and lime.
The experience was priceless, encounters were strong
memories fading, but not gone for long.
I returned here by boat, to visit some friends
It came rushing right back-the circle never ends.
Our memories highlight the bits of our past
But present-day adventures bring moments that last.
I love your ditty and photos too! I miss Charleston Low Country but New Year’s Eve in Costa Rica is very tempting.
Have a great kismet.
Neil, Costa Rica for NYE???? FUN!!!!!
Lovely little house by the water! How could you ever leave it?
I would love to live near there!
It was a great house and I lived communally with 8 other people. “Real Life” kicked in, though, but it was a fond memory!
Hi Jules,
This is Rachel from Idle Theory Bus. We are traveling south with Where’s My Office Now, currently near Myrtle Beach.
We are now scheduling interviews for our Modern Nomad project, and would love to get an idea of where you are now and where you’ll be across the next month or so. Our plan is to head down to the Keys by the end of the year, shooting interviews with nomads such as yourselves along the way. We have in our notes that’s you’re in FL now.
We would love to schedule an official shoot with you; should take 1/2 a day or so, but of course, we’d love to hang out any time beyond that! If we can get an idea of your trajectory, we can make this interview a reality! Just email me back and we’ll work something out.
Thanks so much and look forward to meeting up with you and hearing your thoughts on the nomadic life.

Hey, Rachael,
I just say your note today. Sorry so late in responding. We will be in Stuart, fla on the 7-8 dec, then Ft. Lauderdale by the 10 or 11 we hope. Then Naples, Fl through Xmas before heading to the Bahamas for several months. Hope this helps. Would love to talk about your project. We live on our boat full time now.

Hey Julie it was great having lunch with you today. I know Kathy really enjoyed your visit. Can’t wait to keep up with you on your blog. Smooth sailing to the four of you.
Great seeing you, too! Guess what? The harmonica mysteriously showed up when I got back on the boat!
