We did a “Thing”.
Last month, if you recall, Jeff and I had to help our little dog, Chance, over the rainbow bridge. Our hearts were broken, but it was the right thing to do. A few weeks later, we travelled to the UK and Europe for some hiking. The physical exertion helped to clear our heads but our hearts were still heavy, as they always and forever are after the loss of a pet.
We knew that we would eventually rescue another dog in need, preferably another small one. We never were drawn to small dogs, but after rescuing Chance, and having him in our lives for 13 years, we were hooked.
One night, after an especially exhausting day on the trail, my friend Melissa sent me a picture of this little Bichon Frise that needed to be re-homed. At first glance I though it was Chance. She asked if it was too soon? I didn’t know the details, but within hours, I saw a post on a facebook rescue group of him, again. Another friend that knew about Chance sent me the link. Since we were still in Europe, it would be another week before we returned home, but I reached out about the dog, and well, the rest is history.
We picked him up in Morelia from his owner that wanted him to have a better life, as he travels all the time and and can’t give him the time he needs. Knowing a little about Bichon’s, I know they are very family-oriented and need their people. After a few days of getting oriented (and neutered), he has fit right into our pack.
We call him Chico, because he had a strange Russian name.
He looks very much like Chance, but their personalities are very different. Chico is very outgoing and boisterous, and wants to be the boss of Frida and Diego. They all play hard and fast, and keep us entertained. He’ll never replace Chance, dogs don’t replace each other. I think Chance knew that we needed this little guy to help us along the healing journey, and sent him to us. Just like Kismet sent us Diego and Roxie sent us Frida.
Meet Chico. Welcome home, Little Buddy.
He is súper cute, muy lindo. Felicidades
Muchas Gracias, amiga. Come visit us!
He IS right where he belongs… perfect match♥️
I am so happy for you both. We lost our rescue Bichon Andi 2 years ago and Chico looks just like him. Bichons are wonderful dogs. Enjoy 😊
They truly are special. Just ask Chico!
Muchas Gracias, amiga.
